About Us

At Blue Harmony, we are driven by a shared commitment to protecting the health of our oceans and preserving marine ecosystems for future generations. In 2022, two generations of the Witt and Guinosso families and their lifelong best friend, Tom Hansch, came together to establish Blue Harmony, a California-based non-profit organization. Blue Harmony was born out of a personal connection to the sea and the urgent need to address the growing threats posed by ocean climate change, plastic pollution, overfishing, and habitat destruction.

Join us in our mission to protect the blue heart of our planet.

Together, we can create a lasting legacy of healthy oceans for generations to come.

Our Vision

Blue Harmony envisions a world where individuals from all walks of life come together to safeguard our oceans. We strive to cultivate harmony between humanity and the natural world. Blue Harmony aims to create a lasting legacy of environmental stewardship and ocean protection through collaboration, education, and community engagement with frontline families, friends, and supporters.

The Blue Harmony Mission

Blue Harmony’s mission is to unite families and diverse communities in fostering ocean conservation and community well-being. Our approach prioritizes addressing the immediate threats confronting communities whose ways of life, food sources, indigenous cultures, and recreational activities are on the brink of extinction. We do this through regenerative initiatives, innovative solution-based projects, partnerships with other conservation and climate justice organizations, and outreach programs across the Pacific from Mendocino, California, to the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

What Is the Long-Term Vision of Blue Harmony?

Imagine a world where the oceans are vibrant and alive, a world in which the intricate tapestry of marine life flourishes, supporting not only the delicate balance of our ecosystems but also the well-being of our planet. This is the vision of the Blue Harmony —a future where healthy, resilient marine ecosystems foster a harmonious relationship between humanity and the sea.

At Blue Harmony, we are dedicated to restoring and preserving critical habitats such as kelp forests and coastal ecosystems. These magnificent environments face urgent threats from climate change and ocean pollution. Yet, there is hope. We believe in the extraordinary power of collective action. By uniting individuals, communities, and organizations, we can create a sustainable future for our oceans. Through innovative projects, collaborative partnerships, and steadfast outreach, we aim to empower future generations, inspiring them to become active stewards of ocean conservation.

Ultimately, our goal is to leave behind a legacy of ocean health, where future generations can marvel at the beauty and bounty of our marine environments. We must ensure that the wonders of the ocean remain intact, thriving for years to come.

Together, let us foster a culture of stewardship and respect for our oceans, making a profound impact on the health of our planet and ensuring that the stories of the sea continue to be told for generations yet to come.

What Are Blue Harmony’s Biggest Challenges as an Organization Working on This Cause?

As Blue Harmony embarks on its heartfelt journey to protect and restore the health of our oceans, we encounter a series of significant challenges that can feel as daunting as the waves themselves. One of the most pressing issues we face is the widespread lack of awareness surrounding the critical state of our marine ecosystems. Many people remain blissfully uninformed about the alarming decline of ocean life, the devastating impacts of climate change, and the plastic pollution crisis that threatens the very essence of our seas. Educating the public about these urgent matters is not just important; it is absolutely essential.

We understand that before individuals can take meaningful action, they must first grasp the gravity of the situation and how it intertwines with their own lives and communities. This knowledge gap can be a formidable barrier as we work to inspire collective action and motivate people to join in our conservation efforts.

Moreover, it’s not uncommon for individuals to feel overwhelmed by the enormity of these challenges, believing that their contributions may be too small to matter. At Blue Harmony, we are dedicated to dismantling these perceptions by offering accessible education, engaging storytelling, and tangible ways for individuals to make a difference. Our goal is to empower communities to embrace their vital role in ocean conservation and take proactive steps before it’s too late.

Together, we can cultivate a deep sense of responsibility and connection to our oceans, transforming awareness into meaningful action and fostering a movement of passionate advocates committed to safeguarding the health of our oceans for generations to come.

What Are the Main Principles That Guide Blue Harmony’s Decision-Making?

At Blue Harmony, our decision-making is guided by a set of core principles that reflect our commitment to ocean conservation and community engagement. These principles shape our initiatives and drive our mission to educate, inspire, and empower individuals to become advocates for ocean health.

  1. Education: We believe that knowledge is the foundation for meaningful action. By providing accessible and engaging educational resources, we aim to raise awareness about the critical state of our oceans and the challenges they face. We strive to transform the ocean uninformed into informed advocates who understand the importance of marine ecosystems and the role they play in sustaining life on our planet.
  2. Inspiration: Our work is rooted in the belief that inspiration drives change. Through storytelling, community engagement, and impactful initiatives, we seek to ignite passion and enthusiasm for ocean conservation. We celebrate the beauty and wonder of the ocean, encouraging individuals to connect with these vital environments and feel motivated to protect them.
  3. Empowerment: We recognize that everyone has the potential to make a difference. By providing individuals with the tools, resources, and opportunities to engage in conservation efforts, we empower them to take action in their communities and beyond. Our goal is to create a network of empowered ocean advocates who are equipped to drive positive change and influence others.
  4. Collaboration: We understand that addressing the complex challenges facing our oceans requires collective action. We actively seek partnerships with individuals, organizations, and communities to amplify our impact and foster a sense of shared responsibility for ocean health.
  5. Sustainability: Our decisions prioritize long-term sustainability, ensuring that our initiatives not only address immediate concerns but also contribute to the ongoing health of marine ecosystems. We are committed to implementing practices that promote environmental stewardship and preserve our oceans for future generations.

By adhering to these guiding principles, Blue Harmony Foundation aims to create a ripple effect of positive change, transforming awareness into action and empowering individuals to become passionate advocates for ocean health. Together, we can inspire a movement dedicated to protecting our oceans and ensuring a sustainable future for all marine life.
